At AXPONA 2023 Technics Introduces Something New and Something Refined

one's a new network streamer, one's a new finish for an "old" favorite

Due to consumer demand, Technics' feature-packed SL-1500C turntable will in May be available in a contemporary matte white finish. Nothing else about this popular direct drive turntable changes but with turntables now entering the serious mainstream, white fits better than silver or black into many home environments, so why not? The $1299 1500C-W includes a built in defeatable phono preamplifier and comes with an Ortofon 2M Red pre-installed as well as auto lift at side end.

Also announced at AXPONA 2023 is the SU GX70 Universal Streamer-Amplifier available July 2023 that includes an HDMI ARC port—the company's first since the 2014 brand "re-vitalization". The HDMI connection means the amp can integrate easily into a two channel video system for those not in need of multi-channel audio.

Technics SU-GX70

The SU-GX70 takes advantage of parent company Panasonic's video signal processing experience and technology and is based on the Google Chromecast platform. It can stream Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, Qobuz and Amazon Music. Wireless network capabilities include Wi-Fi, Airplay2 and Bluetooth. The SU-GX70 features 2 Line inputs, 3 digital inputs as well as USB-A and USB-B. It also supports internet radio and FM radio. The SU-GX70 also included a built in high quality low noise MM phono preamplifier. There's much more, which is best covered in a review, but the SU-GX70, which will be available July, 2023 in either silver or black costs $1999.
