dCS's David Steven Unpacks a LINA Streaming DAC

dCS's Managing Director David Steven was among the industry leaders I interviewed this past spring at Imacustica in Lisbon, Portugal. The store is one of the best I've ever visited and the event was a multi-day celebration of great music and audio.

In addition to David, D'Agostino Master Audio's Dan D'Agostino was there to introduce the $150,000 stunning sounding Relentless preamp (I reviewed it for The Absolute Sound) and Bill Peugh was there to set up the Wilson XVX loudspeakers, as was Absolute Sounds' European star importer Ricardo Franassovici.

Mr Stevens and I talked about the new Varése, DAC, dCS's multi-box assault on the state of the art and the more affordable LINA streaming DAC that he unpacked as we spoke. The circuit board folds and unfolds in a must extraordinary and unique way.

I had to smile about his mentioned goal of "it's just you and the music", considering a pile of 5 units for the source, 5 for amps and ceiling high speakers which look like the major monster starring in the next Alien sequel. But with the right room I'm sure it all kind of disappears...in that room one then might just feel a little lonely with just oneself and the music. Otherwise...progress is always good!
