Listen to a 20+ Year Old "Tommy" Lacquer Played Dozens of Times

does it sound worn out to you?

This video explains the difference between lacquers and acetates for those who don't know, and then you'll hear a 20+ year old 45rpm lacquer of what was supposed to be side 3 of "Tommy" but was never released.

it's been played dozens of times around the world. There's been no editing, or fixing noise and/or pops and clicks. Just a straight 96/24 transfer. I hope you enjoy!!!!!!

Stunning. Certainly no audible degradation. The acoustic guitar sounds uncannily realistic, electric is properly aggressive. I swear I hear some details I'm not familiar with. A while ago I stumbled across a Discogs listing for a test pressing that might be the same thing, on Classic Records from 2010. One copy, never sold to anyone. Too bad this 45 rpm version wasn't released...

I think there is a good chance that we will see 45rpm versions of the Who catalogue from Analogue Productions. Possibly a combination of UHQRs and 45rpm releases.

Is this an update of your older video discussing the same topic? BTW, I was “dumb” enough to pay for a lacquer recently. Haven't played it yet, because my SPU should not be used. Any thoughts on cartridges and tracking force for lacquers?

    Sounds good (over AirPods)!

What kind of music do you use the one or the other tonearm/cart for? Or is the one just a review item?
