Green Bay,Wisconsin, August 2025: The Return of a Legend – London Decca Cartridges Reborn!
After a quiet three decades, the near-mythical London Decca cartridges have returned under new ownership, with a seasoned design and manufacturing team. Until recently, the cartridges’ global cult following acquired the limited production examples made available through Presence Audio. But this is not just a comeback for the existing models. Under new guidance, the London Decca cartridges have been revised and improved to allow an even greater experience of the inimitable London Decca sound.
Led by Stewart Suda in the USA, handling sales and marketing, and Andy Whittle in the UK, London Decca will make available a selection of models as well as accessories and other products. The London Decca international business office is based in U.S.A. while all servicing of legacy models and manufacturing of new models are undertaken in U.K.
Andy is an industry veteran who has been trained by London Decca’s expert builder John Wright. John carried on the manufacture of the cartridges between the original ownership by Decca, through the Presence Audio years and up to the current transition, having passed on his knowledge to ensure continuity.
After two years of consolidation, the entire range has benefited from a number of revisions to make them quieter, more consistent and more reliable. Four cartridges comprise the first group of London Decca products to be launched this autumn: the London Decca Maroon, London Decca Super Gold, London Jubilee, and London Reference. Also introduced is a new model, the London Decca Mono Maroon to cater for the mono market. All have been upgraded with Alnico 5 magnets and additional improvements.
Future plans include – for the first time in the history of the London Decca cartridges – a dedicated, all-tube phono stage designed specifically for the London Decca cartridges, The London Decca Record Weight, DIN - RCA Tonearm cable and a awesome London Decca Cable System.
