Mark Knopfler's New Album "One Deep River" To Be Released By Blue Note April 12th

storied jazz label yet again expands its musical horizons

Mark Knopfler's new album One Deep River— his tenth solo effort— is set for April 12th release on his own British Grove label, via Blue Note/EMI. It features a dozen new songs.

Produced by Knopfler and his longstanding collaborator Guy Fletcher the album was recorded in London at his state-of-the-art British Grove Studios and will be available on CD, double gatefold vinyl, cassette and a special limited-edition box set that will include the album on both vinyl and CD with nine exclusive bonus tracks on LP and CD, a litho print of Knopfler, a guitar pick set and tin and an enamel badge.

The album is available for pre-order here

You can listen and watch here to the recording of the first single, "Ahead of the Game". Even on YouTube the sound is quite good, not a surprise coming from Knopfler, who from his "Sultans of Swing" days (1978) has always released great sounding records.

I’m sure you’ve already noticed that it should have been the British Grove label & not British Groove. It only jumped out at me because British Grove (a small street in west London) is such an extraordinary spot, housing not only British Grove Studios but also the former home of The Fallout Shelter (where Bob Marley recorded some of the tracks for Exodus) just 20 feet or so further on. I get goosebumps every time I walk down there.
