MoFi Introduces the UltraPhono Pro Phono Preamplifier

$2495 MSRP fully balanced, zero feedback, D.C. coupled "purist" design

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Chicago, IL -Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs is known for more than four decades of analog mastering, but that same attention to detail also lives on in MoFi Electronics. With the UltraPhono Pro,MoFi brings much of the performance DNA of its flagship MasterPhono to a more accessible price point.

Designed by industry veteran Peter Madnick, the UltraPhono Prois a single-input phono preamplifier built around the same ultra-low-noise circuit concepts and premium parts selection found in the award-winning MasterPhono. The goal was straightforward: deliver the core musical performance, accuracy, and flexibility vinyl listeners care about, without unnecessary complexity.

Cascading technology delivers the MoFi Electronics UltraPhono Pro!Despite its streamlined design, the UltraPhono Prois anything but basic. It offers gain up to 71dB while maintaining a wide, linear frequency response of 10Hz–50kHz (±0.2dB) and exceptionally accurate RIAA equalization (±0.05dB). Noise is kept impressively low, allowing the music to emerge from a quiet, stable background. Front-panel controls provide practical, listener-focused features, including mono mode, muting, a subsonic filter, and dimmable faceplate illumination. Cartridge matching is equally flexible, with multiple loading options for moving-coil cartridges and selectable gain settings for both single-ended and balanced outputs.

MoFi Electronics UltraPhono Pro key features:

  • Single-input architecture derived from the MasterPhono.

  • Fully discrete J-FET & MOSFET input and output stages.

  • Fully balanced, DC coupled, servo-controlled signal path from the high-pass filter to the outputs.

  • Passive RIAA equalization with zero feedback.

  • Seven-stage regulated balanced power supply.

  • Five selectable resistive loading options via front-panelcontrolled, hermetically sealed gold-on-gold relays: 100, 300, 500, 1k, and 47k ohms/

  • Gain settings of 40dB, 52dB, and 65dB (+6dB via XLR outputs).

  • Ultra-low-noise design using premium electronic components.

  • Critical resistors spcecified at 0.1% or 0.5% tolerance.

  • Passive RIAA network using polypropylene film/foil capacitors matched to better than 1%.

  • Thermally coupled critical components to minimize drift over temperature.

  • Maximum S/N Ratio (A-weighted): 93dB (MM) / 85dB (MC).

  • Dimensions (w x h x d): 17 x 2.5x 11.35” / 43.2 x 6.4 x 28.8 cm.

  • Weight: 7 lbs. / 3.2 Kg. Built by the trusted MoFi Electronic

Built by the trusted MoFi Electronics team, the UltraPhono Prois designed to disappear into a system, letting listeners focus on records rather than equipment. It delivers serious performance in the under-$3,000 category and is engineered for long-term reliability.
