"Rufus Reid Presents Caelan Cardello" Vinyl Release Drops Today!

produced by Michael Fremer and Robin Wyatt, mastered by Bob Ludwig

On this video I tell the story behind the new vinyl record I'm releasing along with my friend Robin Wyatt, on newly formed Liam Records. Bob Ludwig mastered the Duke Markos engineered recording that we collectively mixed with input from "Tone Poet" Joe Harley.

Caelan Cardello is an exciting young pianist. Only after we decided the live performance deserved to be released on record did we find out that Caelan has quite a following in the New York area and that among his fans are Christian McBride and his wife Melissa, who have been watching Caelan's talent develop since he was eleven.

Last January Robin Wyatt and I attended "New York Jazz Piano Festival Marathon" at the Klavierhaus, a piano restoration and sales showroom in NYC that our friend concert promoter Jim Luce had organized. We saw a number of talented young performers and then veteran bassist Rufus Reid took the stage, double bass in tow and introduced young pianist Caelan Cardello.

You'll have to watch the video for the full story. The record pressed on 180g vinyl at Quality Record Pressings was cut by Matthew Lutthans using Doug Sax's The Mastering Labs cutting system and packaged in Stoughton Press "Tip On" jackets. Rufus Reid Presents Caelan Cardello is now available at Acoustic Sounds, Music Direct, and Elusive Disc. Check it out!

Music Direct has a release date of Nov 3, and don’t see it yet on AS or Elusive. Any sound files to sample?

I read elsewhere that it’s Grundman mastered from master tapes, but cut on vinyl from 24/96. Is this true in that combination? If so I’d wonder that especially you produced a cut from digital if it originally was recorded to tape?

there was no tape involved at all on this recording! anything you see that mentions bernie grundman is a copy/paste error on the retailer's end. the information sent out by liam records made no mention to bernie grundman whatsoever.

here's the accurate info: recorded and mixed at 96kHz/24bit by duke marcos (mixing guidance from michael fremer and joe harley), mastered by bob ludwig, cut by matthew lutthans at the mastering lab, pressed at quality record pressings, packaged in a stoughton tip-on jacket.
