See How Strata-East's New Reissue Series Records Are Plated, Pressed and Packaged
this video prepared for new vinyl fans following Strata-East by everyone will enjoy
As part of the roll out process for Strata-East's new vinyl reissue series, I again visited RTI (Record Technology Incorporated) to show new vinyl fans how lacquers are plated, processed and then pressed.
In this video you will see the entire chain from lacquers arriving at RTI's plating facility to the plating itself, followed by stamper forming—in this case one of Strata-East's new reissues.
Under one video post last year a reader said "once the lacquer is cut, you're 'home free'" but that's so not the case! Here you'll see the complex process involved in turning a lacquer into a stamper and all that can go wrong (and right) with the process. Then you'll watch records coming off the press and finally how they are packaged and prepared for shipping. As with the recently published Kevin Gray interview this one was produced, shot and edited by Timothy Cobb.
