"Studio Confidential" Brings Music’s Greatest Behind-The-Console Stories To The New York City Stage
Series Launches February 3, 2026 At The Sheen Center For Thought & Culture
(Press release)-- Studio Confidential - a new intimate, on-stage discussion series - will make its NYC debut this February, bringing together a group of music luminaries behind the boards for music’s most iconic recordings from Neil Young, James Taylor, Johnny Cash, Van Morrison, Timbaland, Jason Isbell, The Mavericks, George Michael and many more. Through candid, and often hilarious personal reflections, these legendary engineers and producers offer audiences an unprecedented look at the artistry and innovation behind some of the most groundbreaking records of all time.
With a collective 31 GRAMMY® wins and credits on over 7,000 recordings, the studio legends on stage - also known as METalliance (Music Engineering and Technology Alliance) - will feature Jimmy Douglass, Chuck Ainlay, Sylvia Massy, Niko Bolas, Frank Filipetti, Elliot Scheiner and George Massenburg. Together, their credits include Foreigner, George Strait, Lyle Lovett, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, Carly Simon, ‘The Godfather’ soundtrack and many more.
The show balances reverence for craft with moments of pure comedy – like when a rock ’n’ roll legend’s eccentric payment plan left one producer in an unexpectedly dark situation, or when another engineer’s hunt for the perfect sound effect took a dangerously literal turn. These are just two of the many unpredictable, laugh-out-loud and gripping moments that make Studio Confidential such a singular celebration of music and the visionaries who make it come to life. “Records are timeless. They’re forever,” adds Bolas. “The day that you cut it is just one day, but if you do it right, it’s the soundtrack of your life.”
