The Beatles 1964 US Albums In Mono Box Opening

I didn't bother with lighting or makeup so I could scoop the bitter trolls! lol

The box set arrived about an hour ago and I got right on it and shot this box opening video. Honestly, more interesting is the second embedded video with Kevin Reeves and Pat Kraus showing the tapes and the cutting process along with some of the ideas that went into the new cuts. The tape box notes show that bass was seriously cut for the original records as was some top end splashy cymbal stuff.

What wasn't clear from the video is what they did for these new cuts. Did they restore the bass that's on the tape or try to reproduce the original sound? I hope they give us what's on the tape in those respects but otherwise tried to reproduce the original "vibe."

I'm going to find out right now and report back in the next post!

For some reason, I am getting some strong Deja Vu here.

    I hope they sound fantastic.

This is off topic, and it's a digital question: was there ever a review of The Beatles digital stick that mae in an apple shaped stick holder? Was it the highest rez digital The Beatles have allow us to get our hands on?

Anyway, thanks for the release news, lookin forward to you listening impressions.

i know that michael wrote on his 'previous endeavor' about the 2012 stereo box, cut from the 44.1/24 remasters... he wasn't a fan. those 44.1/24 files on the USB stick are also the same masters used for the 2009 stereo CDs, yes that's the highest resolution digital they're put out for the original stereo mixes but HDtracks has 96/24 masters of the mono mixes for revolver and sgt pepper that were in the super deluxe sets. also, (now OOP) white album CD/BD box has that mono mix in 96/24 on the blu.

i wish they'd do new 192/24 masters of the entire catalogue in both stereo (original mixes) and mono, but 44.1/24 is pretty standard now so the 2009 masters still survive the technical standard. (and i think they'd rather do a few more remixes first... not that the early recordings sound very good through the splitting algorithm.)

I look forward to the report on the vinyl.

As to Anton’s question re the digital stick: there are higher resolution official digital Beatles releases of some of the albums. For example, there is a 24/96 2019 version in both stereo and 5.1 multichannel and the 24/48 Dolby Atmos version. JCR
