The Electric Recording Company Announces Crosby, Stills, Nash Reissue Cut From Original Master Tape

limited edition, of course

The press release from The Electric Recording Company: The eponymous album of Crosby, Stills & Nash marked the inaugural studio release by the renowned American folk rock supergroup. Unveiled byAtlantic Records in 1969, the album stands as a seminal masterpiece within the realms of folk rock and rock music genres. With David Crosby,Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash at its core, all of whom boasted prior affiliations with accomplished bands (Crosby with The Byrds, Stills withBuffalo Springfield, and Nash with The Hollies), the album represents a collaborative tour de force.

The success of this debut album laid the foundation for the group’s subsequent work and collaborations, including their later albums and performances with Neil Young, who joined the lineup to form Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. “Crosby, Stills & Nash” endures as an emblematic and timeless artefact of the musical heritage from that era.

Cut directly from the original analog master tapes, through our unique all valve 1965 Ortofon vinyl cutting system in stereo. No equalisation, compression or any other processing was added during the cutting process.

All sleeve artwork authentically letter-pressed and hand made.

Interested parties should contact csn@theelectricrecordingco.com for further information.

can someone explain the business model for this company? They must go to a lot of trouble and expense to get the original tapes, the equipment must be expensive, handmade sleeves must be expensive, it all sounds labor intensive which must be expensive, etc. Then they only sell 300 copies ???? .. .. .. .. ... Why even bother to announce it here since by the time we read this it will be impossible to get a copy ?

The article is a copy of a press release. I don't see where anybody announced that they have a copy.

It's not even listed in their "SHOP"? The last line above says to contact them. If someone finds out the price, please post it. Thanks!

Does this ERC release come with a Sharpie? ;-)

Maybe Esposito at InGroove can get a copy so he can diss it and whine - blah, blah, blah.

Bruce B., you make an excellent point re their business model.

As for the album I went on a binge late last year and bought up every VG+ or better copy I could find. Cleaned them on my KLAudio machine (thanks Chad for bringing it back! Expensive but very well worth it - sold off the DeGritter - the KLAudio is in another league). Did my own " Hot Stamper " shoot out with 5 copies (total out of pocket - $110) - the one that I ended up with sounds glorious - insanely good. Hard to see how ERC can better it and it would cost me $350 - $400 more than I spent on OG pressings? No thanks!

I sent them an email a few days ago and got this reply..... "We are making a number of editions available for sale via our web site https://www.theelectricrecordingco.com/shop at 5pm tomorrow evening (31st August 2023) should you wish to purchase.".... 5:00 London time was a few minutes ago. I started clicking refresh on the page every few seconds a bit before 5:00. Right at 5:00 the shopping page refreshed to show it was sold out. I clicked a few more times and it let me order one.
