Tracking Angle's "Track Du Jour" For Friday May 22nd Is a Motown Classic in Stereo

The Supremes "Where Did Our Love Go"?

Here's the Supremes' 1964 #1 single "Where Did Our Love Go" in stereo from the album of the same name. Most people heard this as a 45rpm mono single on the A.M. radio but Berry Gordy, Jr. was an audio enthusiast and so recorded this and all Motown albums of this era in real stereo.

The sound on this record is very good!

I bought it at Sam Goody over the summer of 1964 in the special very small stereo rock section. After thinking about the Neil Innes track posted yesterday I realized I should have also included the hilarious Bonzo Dog Band song "The Intro and Outro" so I include it here from the group's album "Gorilla".

That's all for today! There will be more sonic spectaculars coming up...

This is going to be a wonderful feature. I think it will elevate the general enthusiasm level, as well.

I have 15IPS IEC cutting masters of many Motown masters from EMI, including this song… not sure how many generations down the UK tapes were from the ones in Detroit but hearing so deeply and so clearly into the original productions is astounding, even if many of the recordings are not exactly audio spectaculars

Could the intro-outtro be an inspiration/tribute for Viv Stanshall's appearance as the "Master of Ceremonies" on Tubular Bells? hmmmm
