Warsaw Audio Video Show 2024 Day One—The Stadium Exhibits

was a crowded, festive, successful show once again

This year's Warsaw Audio Video Show was well attended as always and because the biggest crowds show up on Saturday I spent almost all day Friday covering the stadium exhibits, which are mostly, but not all, the larger corporate participants like Technics, Pro-Ject, JBL, Marantz, Denon, McIntosh, Senheiser, Focal, Yamaha, etc. plus many smaller "high end" brands like Hegel, Pro-Ject, Transrotor, Dali, Unison Research, Clearaudio and many others you'll see in the video.

I couldn't cover all in one day so I returned on Sunday to catch the rest, including Avant Garde/Kondo and Magico among others, plus the large headphone area. That will be video number three. Number two will be coverage of the Radisson Sobieski and Golden Tulip Hotel exhibits, many of which were by Polish companies not distributed in the United States, which you'll surely find interesting. Also there were products from Hungary, Italy and other European countries.

I did a turntable set-up seminar in the Sobieski Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon participated in a fascinating discussion about Sonopress's injection molded EcoRecords using Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) more often used to make plastic bottles.

We compared albums by Liam Gallagher and Ed Sheeran manufactured the usual way and injection molded. More about that next time!

The thumbnail below is the first I've ever attempted and it's pretty weak but it's a start and they will only get better over time. As you'll see, vinyl for sale was all over the show. There's probably more for sale at the Warsaw show than anywhere else—more than Munich. Unfortunately few rooms displayed with turntables and fewer actually used them. Something must be done about that!
